Windows Clients - Ident Help There are a number of different IRC clients for the Windows platform, some of which have inbuilt Ident support and some of which do not. Other than 16-bit versions of mIRC, all clients are assumed to be written for 32-bit versions of Windows (95,98, NT, ME, 2000)

#pirch on DALnet are able to provide more detailed help online. BitchX - Pre-compiled Binary Distribution BitchX does not have an inbuilt ident server in this distribution. If you wish to use this version on DALnet you will require a stand-alone ident server. VisualIRC (vIRC) vIRC has a built in ident server which can be configured from within the client. Full details are here : BisualIRC (bIRC) We have been unable to confirm if this client has an inbuilt ident server. Users may need to use a stand-alone ident server to connect to DALnet. Stand-Alone Windows Ident Servers. http://info.ost.eltele.no/freeware/identd/ (Windows NT) http://identd.sourceforge.net/ (Windows 9x) These packages are currently supported by their respective authors and are both provided as freeware.IDENTD : This is a freeware (GPL) ident server for windows 95. 98 & NT. It may also work on Windows 2000 and ME however this has not been tested and cannot be guaranteed. Full instructions are included in the download package. Requires winzip to extract the files. Please note that this Ident Daemon is now unsupported by it's authors. If possible you should use one of the currently supported packages referenced above. DALnet cannot provide any help or support with configuring Ident Daemons, you must refer all support queries to the package authors. |
